About Our Historic Victorian Hostel
Welcome to NX London Hostel, proudly nestled in a classic Victorian building dating back to 1897. Rich with history, character, and timeless charm, our hostel is anything but ordinary. Like any heritage treasure, it comes with a few delightful quirks—reminders of a bygone era that lend a truly unique flavor to your stay.
Accessibility
As an authentic Victorian structure, our building was designed long before modern accessibility standards. We don’t have elevators or wheelchair-accessible facilities, and stairways are the only way to access upper floors. Guests with mobility challenges may find the layout less suitable, and we’re happy to help find alternative arrangements where possible.
Room & Layout
Victorian architecture has a personality all its own. Expect rooms and corridors that are anything but cookie-cutter—ceilings may soar, doorways might be narrow, and hallway layouts can surprise you! We’ve kept as much of the original design as possible, making each space distinctive and full of character.
Bathrooms & Showers
Converted from a coaching inn into a hostel, our shared bathrooms are thoughtfully placed throughout each floor. While we’ve optimised comfort within the building’s original framework, facilities may differ from modern ensuite expectations. They’re clean, functional, and an essential part of the authentic hostel experience.
Local Atmosphere & Noise Levels
Our location pulses with the energy of New Cross—above buzzing venues and next to a lively pub and music hub. While this brings vibrancy and culture to your doorstep, guests may notice ambient noise, especially on lower floors. Complimentary earplugs are available, and we recommend requesting higher-floor rooms if you’re a light sleeper.
Ventilation, Heating & Cooling
Our building stays true to Victorian form. Central heating keeps you cozy in cooler months, and while there’s no air conditioning, fans are available in the summer. Windows can be opened for fresh air, as was tradition—just one more way to step into the rhythm of the past.

A Landmark of Resilience – The Battle of Lewisham
NX London Hostel stands at the heart of a pivotal event in London’s fight for justice—the 1977 Battle of Lewisham. This historic protest saw local communities come together to challenge intolerance and protect their neighborhood. Mounted police clashed with protestors right outside our doors. Today, we honor that legacy with a plaque that commemorates the bravery and spirit of that day.
Staying here is more than a night’s rest—it’s a connection to the stories that shape London. It’s a way to walk in the footsteps of resilience, unity, and activism.
NO SMOKING ALLOWED ESTABLISHMENT
The NX LONDON HOSTEL is a “NO SMOKING” Establishment. No smoking or use of any other smokable or chewable tobacco or non-tobacco products allowed in any part of the building. (Including, but not limited to cigarettes, pipes, cigars, or snuff) Anyone found in breach will incur a £50.00 fine and might be evicted from the premises. No Refunds will be given.

Please note that we are a London Budget Hostel for guests ages 18-65 years old. We feature a mix of long-term and leisure guests, which gives the ambience a uniquely quirky character.

Check-Out Time: 11.00 AM on departure day.
Check-in Time: 4.00 PM – 11.00 PM daily
Reception is open 4.00 PM to 1:00 AM
It is mandatory for all guests to provide a copy of a valid Photo ID upon check-in (this is in compliance with the Immigration Act of 1972 pertaining to Hotel Records.)
We reserve the right to refuse accommodation to anybody without giving a reason.
